Rooney: I feel only disappointment

Wayne Rooneys Nightshift from the world's largest jungle comprised the exemplary and the unusual.

England No10 provided to compensate for a gorgeous cross for Daniel Sturridge. Then, after the Italy backline from Leighton Baines had hinted mischievously, the 28-year-old pulled forward a great opportunity, which is great on the way to a 2-1-defeat in their group D opener to the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 ™.

Then FIFA won Rooney his assist to discuss, the missed opportunity, the performance of 19-year-old Raheem Sterling, whether England deserve better, and the mood in their dressing room.

FIFA: Wayne, you didn't deserve better?
I don't think that we deserved to lose the game. I thought we played some good stuff, a few chances, I think we were very unhappy. But that's football, that's how it goes.

After Italy met their second goal, England had a very good spell.
Yes, that's what we did. I think we have some really good things in the game, but we could just not before. And I think if we would have front, that we had been OK. But I think that they showed their class when she went forward. You made it really difficult for us, and that is why we failed, a goal back.

With his team selection, including young Raheem Sterling, Roy Hodgson was fat. How did you think Sterling has?
I think we all did well as a team. Like I said, it's about the team, isn't about people and the boys, who this evening has come was right. They gave the Manager certainly some options for the next game.

England's goal was really good.
Yes, it was a good target. It was a really good time for us, we knew we had to go back quickly to get into the game, and we managed to do. And it was a large surface of Daniel.

You have supplied a superb pass for this goal. Are you happy?
No. We lost the game, so anything that I feel disappointed me. But it was good for Daniel Tore.

She had a great opportunity goals in the second half.
This is how it's done. I'm not worried about it. We will move on to the next game.

What did you learn England's chances at the World Cup tonight about?
I learned that to win the next game. Tonight was a disappointment, a setback, but we must continue. We now have a tough match against Uruguay, and we have to go and try to get three points.

How would you summarize the feeling in the locker room? Will it be hard to raise you in the next few days?
No, we will rise. We know that we have a good team. Of course, we are disappointed we lost the game, but we will go on. We prepare now for Uruguay, and we take the ideas of the Manager in the game and hopefully we can get the victory.
